CASTING
Main Actress
As our film was a coming of age movie it was set around a character between the age of 13-18. All of the actors in our film would have to be around this age as we wanted it to be fully set and included in this one age period. The gender and sexuality of our character was irrelevant as what binds them together is only their age. We decided a female actress of our age (17ish) would be easier for us to make authentic as we can relate to them more as we have shared their experiences. My partner Beth fit these specifications very well and her ability to act well was proved by her acting in our A2 production. I also feel very comfortable directing her and because she has been through the whole process with me, through planning and research, she knows exactly what we want to create and will be able to do it.
Love Interest Male Character
Our requirements for the male character is even more vague. This is because of the fact our main actors face is the only one we see through the whole film. We have done this to isolate her, the audience cannot make connections with anyone else. Our love interest character therefore had to be a teenage age. It could have been a LGBT actor however this would have been harder as there are less people we know who fit into this category. The person we chose in the end is Beth's good friend Mark, she feels comfortable around him, which is very important because of the implied sexual nature of parts of the film.
Extras
For two of our scenes needed extras, specifically the party scene as we want it to be packed and claustraphobic, remembering not to show faces. The only requirement is that they have to be teenagers and preferably have an even male and female balance to give equal representation.
