CODES OF DRESS

We wanted our character's code of dress to reflect her transition from innocent to corruption to disintegration. We wanted to represent this through going from white to black and these colours hold strong connotations. We also did not want and bright colour or patterns as these would distract from the character and the scene. However, we felt that completely white clothes could make it seem unrealistic and be distracting. Even though we definitely wanted for it to get darker throughout we might have to sacrifice the white clothes for verisimilitude, especially when many of the scenes are outside and would need a coat. As long as the clothes weren’t distracting then it would be okay. The darker colours would represent her loneliness with connotations of the dark and the night, being isolated and alone. The darker colours would also contrast with the girls pale face and draw the audience to her face, making them have more of a connection with her.

The contrast of black and the background highlight the figures

The lighter hair and legs are easy to pick up and makes it clearer whats happening

The black doesn't clash with any of the colours in the background

The black links them with the beach because it mirrors the black in the sand

Their are linked together because of the shared colour

The dark colours create a silloutte like effect
