Total Film's first issue was publish in Feburary 1997 and is issued monthly, with an extra summer issue. It covers new releases, films currently in production and much else, with each issue having a six page detailed chat with a director or actor, followed by a critique of their work. It retails around £3.99
Empire is one of the most famous film magazines, publishing its first issue in July 1989. Empire magazine covers both mainstream film and indie/art films, but does focus more on the mainstream films more, using them as their feature articles. It is well renowned for its top 10 lists and masterpiece articles, that are two page essays on a film. It is published monthly and retails around £3.99.
I researched into two big film magazine companies, to get an idea of the market and the history in it. It would give me and idea of what a professional magazine looked like, their history and how they worked.
